Kaimur Wildlife Santuary is located in Mirzapur and Sonbhadra district of Mirzapur and is known for several animals like Black Bucks, Sloth Bears, Wild Boars, Striped Hyena, Sambhar, Pangolin, Indian Fox, Jackals, Apes, Spotted Deer, Chinkara, Monitor Lizard, Cobra, Common Krait, Russell's Viper, Rat Snake, Python, Crocodile etc. The sanctuary is also very rich in Medicinal Plants.
The Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change has made available the draft notification for declaration of extent and boundaries for the eco-sensitive zone around the sanctuary area. Suggestions and Objections are invited from public within 60 days of the gazette notification being made available to public. The gazette notification is dated 22nd September, 2015, and the MOEFCC websites states
it is uploaded on 6th October, 2015.
