The Vindhyan Ecology and Natural History Foundation (VENHF) is a public charitable trust registered under the Indian Trusts Act, 1882, on 12 January 2012 (Registration No. IV/4/12) in Mirzapur District, Uttar Pradesh.
Since its registration, VENHF has operated as a self-funded voluntary organization. The expenses of the Trust, from fieldwork and research to legal interventions and public outreach, have been borne almost entirely by its trustees and members themselves. The Trust does not accept donations from foreign entities, corporations, and government bodies to avoid any conflict of interest.
While this model has preserved our independence and kept us accountable only to our mission, it has also placed limits on the scale and continuity of our conservation work. After more than fourteen years of sustained effort, we recognize that the challenges facing the Vindhyan forests, including habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and the growing need for sustained advocacy, require resources beyond what a small group of individuals can sustain on their own.
What Your Donation Supports
Every contribution to VENHF directly powers conservation action in one of India's most ecologically neglected landscapes, from scientific research and wildlife habitat protection to environmental policy advocacy and community engagement across the Vindhyan range.

Donation Policy
We believe that financial independence is essential to our credibility as a conservation organization. We avoid project-based funding unless they are part of VENHF’s existing work. We greatly rely on support from Indian individual donors and philanthropic organizations who share our commitment and values to conservation.
In March 2026, VENHF received provisional registrations under Section 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961, enabling us to receive tax-deductible donations. We are presently preparing an organizational policy for receiving government grants and CSR-based fundings.
