Vindhyan Ecology and Natural History Foundation (VENHF) is a registered non-profit organisation (2012) based in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, working for protection and conservation of the nature, natural resources and rights of the nature dependent communities in the ecologically fragile landscape of Vindhya Range in India. Vindhya Bachao Abhiyan is the flagship campaign of the organization.

Internship Description

VENHF is looking for motivated full-time interns based in Mirzapur area of Uttar Pradesh to assist the organization’s ongoing work of environment and wildlife protection. The internship will be helpful in not only providing hands-on experience in working for environmental justice work but will be very much useful in developing a fresh perspective on the environmental issues. The primary work will include but not limited to assistance in field research, review environmental policies, report writing, organizing community workshops, filing RTI applications, interacting with key stakeholders etc. During the internship, the candidates will get an opportunity to directly work under and interact with experts from different backgrounds working for protection of environment and ecology.  

Eligibility

The interested candidates should have

1. minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Science or allied streams. Students pursuing post-graduate studies are also eligible.
2. good proficiency in speaking Hindi and writing either English or Hindi.
3. should be able to devote at least 30 hours a week.
4. should have a valid two-wheeler driving license.
5. should be based in district Mirzapur.

Stipend

The interns will be provided a fixed monthly stipend as per following:

• Fresh graduate- ₹ 4,500
• Fresh post-graduate- ₹ 6,000
• Graduate with at least 2 years’ experience- ₹ 6,000

Duration

The interns are expected to work for a limited duration of initially 3 months starting from the month of October, 2017. Requests for extension of the duration will be considered only after successful completion of at least 8 weeks of internship.
